Biography

After earning his Law and Master of Business Administration degrees from Fordham University, Phil began his legal career as a prosecutor in Brooklyn, New York, where he served as member of the District Attorney’s Appeals Bureau and Trial Zone.

As a founding shareholder of BHS, Phil now focuses his litigation practice on general commercial and civil litigation; products liability; labor and employment law; education law; insurance coverage; and subrogation. He has handled complex litigation in state and federal court proceedings at the trial and appellate levels, as well as arbitrations throughout the United States. He also serves as outside coordinating counsel for clients in litigation pending throughout the country.

In addition to his litigation practice, Phil provides general business advice to clients in the automotive and aviation industries, as well as educational institutions on issues pertaining to contracts, insurance coverage, consumer protection, civil rights and employment policies and practices.

Phil has extensive experience in guiding clients regarding their compliance with federal labor, education, and civil rights laws, as well as EEOC and state equal employment opportunity regulations, practices and policies. He regularly prepares and lectures clients regarding various changes and developments in key areas of labor and employment law.

Phil also counsels educational institutions on compliance with laws, including Title VII, Title IX, the Clery Act, the Rehabilitation Act and FERPA. Along with the Firm’s education law team, he provides training sessions, and acts as an outside impartial investigator for sexual misconduct complaints.
